It's beautiful out, at least

So this weekend wash an utterly anti-climatic wash, I didn't get any work done (oh hai, looming deadlines), I promised
nepenthe that I'd buy her Comic-con ticket for her while she's at work and then left my card at home (I really, really hope they take Paypal) and I turn twenty-six in nine days and apparently freaking out about birthdays is something I do now.
I AM FULL OF FEELINGS. SAD, CRANKY FEELINGS.
Please, rlist, give me a drabble prompt, ask me a question, request a rec, write something, link me something, rec some music, whatever strikes your fancy. I could use some cheering up; would like to give people something.
(And shit, I never said thanks for the comments over at the love meme. But I'm thinking about it now and I am grateful and full of affection, thank you.)
ETA: Wow, are these last three posts a roller-coaster or what?

Date: 2010-11-01 05:11 pm (UTC)Hurray, music! And Mountain Goats, yes (I have a playlist called 'Long Day' - it's only got four songs on it, 'This Year' is one of them).
Let's see:
Grace Dominguez was the world's greatest (potential) supervillian. She was a genius, of course, fully versed in physics and chemistry and structural engineering by the time she was eight. She was charismatic, creative, hard working, and utterly ruthless.
Above all that, the thing that made her the best, was her practicality. You couldn't take over the world in third grade - you had to finish middle school, at least, and there were her parents to think about, and she still hadn't figured out a way around that pesky law of gravity.
But someday, someday soon, oh yes. She'd be unstoppable.
(oh shit, I think I just webcomic!bunnied myself.)

Date: 2010-11-01 04:11 pm (UTC)I turn (insert appalling number here) in 4 days, and I'm reciting "ain't nothin' but a number" ad nauseum.
a bit of background context for this that might make it dorkier, or just that much more embarrassing, or sweeter, take your pick:
Cathy and I have had a totally impromptu, on-again off-again Arthur/Eames roleplay going for the last three months, in which Arthur and Eames more or less palled around Paris and flirted a lot and acted like assholes to each other and fell in love, and finally had their first kiss in the middle of Eames' flat, in the middle of a late summer rainfall, while Billy Holiday sang "You Go To My Head" in the background. It was lovely. :(
(And Paris just kept right on raining, because it's seen everything before.)
So now Eames is doing a job in Helsinki, and Arthur is visiting Cobb on a sheep farm in Scotland (IDK EITHER), and since they're dorks, they haven't actually talked about what happens next.
But while they've been away, Arthur sent Eames this song.

Date: 2010-11-01 04:29 pm (UTC)That RP is lovely and dorky, just like that song. I can see Arthur staring at his email after he sends it, kinda shocky, thinking did I really just do that? Fuck. And then stalking his inbox all day.

What the heck is up with the embedding? Just tried, got nothing. Will have to go digging through the FAQs.
I think I can help with that, here, let me ...
Date: 2010-11-01 04:17 pm (UTC)NO MATTER. We met him in Merlin 3x04.
This is Gwaine (just ignore the spelling, it's what the show did and I'm sticking with it for now):
He saves Arthur and Merlin in a pub brawl, but is injured. Obviously he is brought straight to Merlin's bed. Where he proceeds to be shirtless.
And looks at Merlin like so:
Obviously this rule applies:
Gwaine is a total flirt:
He also has a nice profile:
In 3x08 Merlin and Gwaine follow Arthur on a quest. Merlin asks Gwaine why he's doing this.
Gwaine: "Same reason as you. Help a friend."
Merlin: "Arthur is lucky to have us."
Gwaine: "Not Arthur." *SMILES LONGINGLY AT MERLIN*
Merlin: *looks back at Gwaine*
Audience: ........ uh ... *glance at watch*
Moment: *goes on and on*
Later Arthur claps Merlin on the shoulder, Gwaine does this:
HERE, have superfluffy modern!AU Merlin/Gwaine fic.
I think I might have a new favourite pairing. OOPS?

Date: 2010-11-01 04:40 pm (UTC)Plus I've dubbed season 3 Shirtless!Arthur season, because we get a shot of him getting out of bed almost *every* episode.
I'LL BE BACK LATER WITH MORE STUFF. (Also need to head over to the Sacrifices discussion post today, ugh, why do I have to spend time ~working~ and ~studying~, there are much better things I could do!)
