Ah, Ojirougumi. Gorgeous art, great storylines, and incredibly prolific (seriously, they've got 30+ HikaGo books out) - what's not to love? These are books 14 and 16, the earliest I've got (outside the anthologies), which have related stories, yay!

Title: Shall We Battle?
Circle/Artist: Ojirougumi (website)
Pairing/Rating: Hikaru/Akira - NC17
Page Count: 74 (18 pages of text)
Year: 2003
'Shall We Battle?' starts with Cinder!Hikaru looking rather pissed off, presumably because Stepsister!Waya and Stepsister!Mitsuni are making him stay home (and play video games) instead of going to the ball. But never fear! Fairy Godmother!Sai is here to... wave his stick around and provide transportation. At the ball, Prince!Akira spies Cinder!Hikaru chowing down at the buffet and is instantly smitten. To be continued!
Splash page, omgsocute.

Also, if you haven't already, go read the back cover of 'Shall We Battle?' Yes, those're the lyrics to 'Shall We Dance?' with, well, 'shall we battle' substituted for 'shall we dance?' SO CUTE.
A couple short stories (one of which seems to be about Akira's ability to home in on Hikaru as soon as he enters the room), some free talk, and we get to one of the main stories - Akira and Hikaru at a festival! They start fighting right away, of course, but still manage to make their way up to a (strangely unoccupied) hilltop in time for the firework. Akira's enthralled (with the fireworks) which means Hikaru's enthralled (not with the fireworks),

and there is some mutual blushing when Akira catches himmaking googly eyes staring. And the, oh no! Hikaru's foot is bleeding - his geta have rubbed him raw (I feel you, Hikaru). Fortunately, Akira is prepared - he whips out a band aid from... somewhere, kneels down, and patches Hikaru up. When he stands they're right up in each other's personal space, there's some dialog, some meaningful eye contact, and then Akira puts his hands on Hikaru's shoulders and... hugs him. Hikaru's willing to roll with that

(socute) but he wants a kiss too, dammit. So he gets himself one and they stand there, kissing, as firework go off above them.
But something's not right (and honestly, I have no idea what Hikaru's problem is here. I don't think Akira does, either)! Hikaru makes some impassioned statements, Akira seems to get what he's on about (at least one of us does) and blushes, which makes Hikaru move in for the kill. He goes for the neck! Which is hot, if strange, and makes Akira's knees give way. 'The hell?' says Akira (I'm ab libbing here) 'that's going to leave a mark!' (which is probably the point, really) annnnd we're back to fighting again, fireworks still going in the background.
And then there is a text story.
The book's second (third?) big story is by Ojirougumi's second artist who, honestly, I don't like near as much. Which is a shame, since s/he does all the smut. Here, Akira and Hikaru are at a hotel before/during/after a tournament. They're sharing a room which, score, means they can have sex! Pages and pages of sex. And then Hikaru has a dream about a field, and then they wake up, order room service, and cuddle. Hurray!
Lastly, we return to the adventures of Cinder!Hikaru who, with the help of his fairy godmother, is winning a game of Go against Prince!Akira. But the clock strikes midnight and fairy!Sai vanishes, leaving Cinder!Hikaru to scribble down the next move on his own and hightail it out of the castle. Prince!Akira finds the paper on the castle steps. The next morning, Stepsister!Waya bursts into the house with big news - the prince will marry whichever girl can make the move written on that scrap of paper. Hikaru talks himself into going for it... only to have Sai (who is apparently perfectly capable of walking around by himself) beat him to the punch.
The end!

Title: Miai
Circle/Artist: Ojirougumi
Pairing/Rating: Hikaru/Akira - PG13
Page Count: 34
Year: 2003
Let's see - gag, gag, a couple of short stories and then... here we are! The main story in 'Miai' has Hikaru and Mom Touya out shopping for a yukata for Akira (this takes place *before* the fireworks scene in 'Shall We Battle,' so Hikaru just comes along to stop her from buying anything really atrocious but not as, you know, a boyfriend. Also, there totally need to be more 'Hikaru and Mom Touya hang out' fanfics). It looks like they're about to settle on one with a bunny print when

unexpected Kiyoharu is unexpected! And also opinionated. Waya and Isumi are also there (Isumi likes the one with the ducks) and Akira ends up with three options to choose from. He can't quite decide, even when Dad Touya weighs in, so the boys play Janken for it (Isumi loses) and then start setting up a mini Go tournament. Akira sneaks off and Hikaru follows to make a last minute pitch for the bunny yukata.

They're totally not boyfriends, though (sosocute). Akira gives in and Hikaru takes the other, with a fan print, for himself. You can see them wearing them in the 'Shall We Battle' fireworks scene!
More short stories, mostly of Hikaru an Akira being really handsy in public, and we close with a sketch of a really lovely kiss.
