MAYBE reboot. Reading between the lines it sounds like the characters are being 'youthened' somehow. Which may end up being the same as a reboot, who knows....
I'm waiting to see actual solicits before I panic.
* Starting this summer, the publisher will re-number its entire DC Universe of titles, revamping characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and others from its 76-year history for a more modern and diverse 21st century.
* This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, but at a point where our characters are younger and the stories are being told for today's audience.
* In the rollout of the revamped DC Universe, some titles will return, a lot of titles won't, and DC will have a wider range of books starting in September, DiDio says.
* Justice League will begin its first year with an updated secret origin reflecting DC's new initiative, giving the group a reason for coming together that it lacked when the league first appeared in 1960.
* The characters also are getting a makeover. While most of the specifics are still top secret, Lee says he worked with both staff and freelance artists to redesign costumes in a contemporary way as well as alter the physicality of many heroes and villains to modernize the DC Universe.
Don't make it easy. I can't see how they could 1) revamp/modernize origins, 2) rewrite physicalities, 3) rewrite the formation of the Justice League, and 4) rewind the timeline to just after that formation without it being a full reboot.
On one hand, I understand why they're doing it - they're trying to bring in new readers and the current DCU is an almost inaccessible mess. On the other, I don't trust them and nothing I'm reading indicates they're actually fixing anything (claims of diversity aside).
But if they put out a new Blue Beetle/Jaime title, or one for Static, or Traci 13, or Renee, I'll probably buy it :/
Flashpoint's the latest DCU crossover event (think 52, the various Crises, etc). It stars Barry Allen as the Flash, trapped in an alternate universe (yadda yadda Reverse Flash, yadda yadda only one who remembers, etc). Here's the wikipedia page.

What the FUCK? They do realize you can't magically impart 'goodness' into a comic just by putting a #1 on it, right?
