* I am moved! It took us two weeks to do it, but Saturday we packed up everything the movers didn't move, scrubbed the place down, and handed in our keys. It was exhausting. I'm so glad my dad insisted on coming down with the truck (and then calling my sister and her BF to help us unload) because there was no way we could have done it ourselves (I tried to talk him out of it - 'no, Dad, we'll be fine - it's only a car load or two.' HA.). The new place looks like an exploded storage unit but at least everything's there. Unpacking's going to be a pain in the ass.

* And then a friend came over and the three of us (me + friend + roommate) mainlined the last three episodes of Doctor Who and the SEASON FINALE. DOCTOR WHOOOOOOOOOOO. I am thrilled with the way things went down - it was a quiet season and not everything got wrapped up or made sense but. Everybody lived. No one got screwed over/had their memories wiped/got trapped in an alternate universe. Amy and Rory got married! And then got right back in the TARDIS!! I was shouting 'YES! TWO SEASONS, FUCK YES! MARRIED COMPANIONS!' at the screen by the end. Which got me strange looks, but whatever. We got to keep Rory, we got more Amelia, River's growing on me, Eleven was adorable. I can't ask for more. Also, (coconut) rum & coke continues to be my Doctor Who viewing beverage of choice. Yum.

* I've been watching Natsume Yujincho (for free! legally!) on Crunchyroll and enjoying it thoroughly - it's perfect for watching an episode or two before bed. It's a quiet, slow moving show about a boy who can see yokai and is just... sweet and occasionally heart breaking.

Crunchyroll also has a bunch of Korean, Japanese and Chinese dramas up - my roommate's been moping about the summer TV doldrums and I'm hoping to tempt her with Coffee Prince and I Really Really Like You.

* There are days, especially in the summer, when I curse my decision not to drive (There are cities where you can easily be a pedestrian-for-life. Dallas is not one of them). But then I tuck a little more money into my savings account and continue to not have driving-in-the-city panic attacks. And I feel better about it.

* A heads up: Seven Seas is putting out an omnibus of Hayate x Blade in November, collecting the first three volumes. It's roughly 50% off and release of future volumes depends on how well it (and the single volumes) sell, so if you've been thinking about picking it up (and you should!) now's a good time.

Natsume Yuujinchou is great isn't it? I love this series!
Yay! for being completely moved and Yay! for Doctor Who. I <3 the ending of the season and totally agree about how wonderful it is that we have a married couple for the companions. I loved that Amy was like 'you can definitely kiss the bride' and the Doctor says how that's only Rory's job from now on. Yay! for that! ^_^

I'm up to episode 21 and loving it dearly - will have to track down the manga. Natsume is such a sweet kid! Nyanko-sensei is just the right amount of cranky and caring! The secondary characters are all great! And it's, like, super queer. I thought I was imagining it at first but no, they've got to be doing it on purpose <3

I love that we got a straight up happy finale. And that we get to keep Amy and Rory. And that Amy's adventures don't end with her marriage (seriously, how many tv women does that happen to? I can't think of any others). I know a lot of people miss Ten and have had trouble warming up to Eleven, but I loved him lots this season.

Oh the thing that made me love Nyanko-sensei even more was in the first episode realising that the voice actor is also Kakashi's voice actor from Naruto (I love his voice!).

Re: Dr Who - it is great to have a happy ending season! And you're right about marriage basically ending shows or at least ending the woman's adventures.
I decided right at the start to give Eleven a fair go and I really like him as well. He portrays the Doctor's age well. At times manic with energy and at other times you really feel like he's an old man that's seen too much.

Also you said And it's, like, super queer about Natsume Yuujinchou and I agree completely. Not to be offensive or anything but is 'queer' and ok word to use? I see it a lot more on the net these days, but to me it's always seemed really derogatory. I ask this not to be saying you can't use it or anything but because I feel like I missed a memo or something and that maybe it always was an accepted word and I just got it wrong. Does this make any sense???

I <3 Eleven - Matt Smith's handling of the character is amazing. And yeah, I loved Ten but by time his run was up I was more then ready to give Eleven a chance. He hasn't disappointed!

Wikipedia has a good segment about the current usage of 'queer' inside the LGBT community (of which I am a part [waves lesbian! flag]) - In contemporary usage, some use queer as an inclusive, unifying sociopolitical umbrella term for people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, transsexual, intersexual, genderqueer, or of any other non-heterosexual sexuality, sexual anatomy, or gender identity. It can also include asexual and autosexual people, as well as gender normative heterosexuals whose sexual orientations or activities place them outside the heterosexual-defined mainstream.

It's also easier to say than 'LGBT'.

Like all reclaimed words, folks outside the community need to be cautious when using it. It has a long history of hate and damage in the hands of heteronormative culture (a culture which is still largely homophobic) and thus needs to be handled with thought and care.

Thanks for that explanation ^_^ I didn't want to use it and offend anyone and I think I'll stick with not using it as I am outside of that community (waves hetro!flag) and there's nothing worse than trying to use language from a group when you're not part of that group as it means you don't ever really see it in use enough to grasp proper usage (studied lingusitics - can you tell?).
