[SG1] Take These Broken Wings by synedochic (JD/Cameron). See, the thing about synedochic, aside from the bit where she's AMAZING, is that she writes things I you don't want to read (death, permanent bodily damage, pairings that are not OTP ((woes!)), deep achy sorrow/madness/hurt) and makes you like, nay, LOVE them. Because they are perfect. I convince myself to read her work a little at a time (eurydiceverse, I'm gunning for you next) because I know, once I do, I'll be blown away. Anyway. I stopped watching Stargate: SG1 seasons ago, so I only know Cameron Mitchell/JD/Recent Events through fandom, but that's okay - canon informs the writing, sure, but synedochic takes them and makes them wholly her own. Cameron's badly damaged (but not broken) after a bad crash in the Arctic (which makes this an AU, yeah?) and is at loose ends after leaving the Stargate program, JD is Jack O'Niell's 17 year old clone (canon, I swear), looking to make his life his own. And this paragraph is way to long so, just go. Read.

[SG:A] What Happens in the Clubhouse by skoosiepants (John/Rodney). “You think?” Rodney snapped, hands clenched into tiny fists, pale eyes watery, mouth an unhappy, quivering, lopsided line. “I’m going to cry, Colonel. Cry! I never cry! This is all your fault!” Okay, this is a classic example of a short story that wanted to be much, much longer (re: the Embryonic Novel), but what we do get is freaking adorable, I kid you not.

Robbie Dingo, a Second Life machinima artist, recently released a new video - entitled Mask, it's a short, well crafted piece about identity and camouflage. I love his work, and this was as good a reason as any to go back through the archive and rewatch favorites ~ Which, yes, I'm now going to share.

Watch the World - In a stunning piece set to Don McLean's 'Vincent,' Robbie recreates Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' as a 3d, simwide masterpiece. Link is to the YouTube version - higher quality is available for download at Robbie's blog.

Suzanne's Guitar - A more intimate look at the SL creation process - Robbie recreates Suzanne Vega's guitar in a video set to Prelude No.2 (V.Lobos).

Better Life - Also by Robbie (the video says so!), but not filed under his user name... I had a heck of a time finding this one, but it was worth it. A wonderful, introspective piece.

Small Story, Part 1 - Not by Robbie Dingo (not even a video, really), this is a beautifully shot short 'story.' Requires the Flash Player to view.

[squee] [flail] [more squee] because, my god, I have read Ouran fic, kyouya/tamaki fic, and it's good. I love these boys together so much and the rest of fandom apparently does not agree (although it seems there is a community? kyouyatamaki? Your archives are *mine*) and new fic is more then enough to make my day [does the new-fic-for-a-favorite-yet-sadly-rare-pairing chair!dance]. Right.

[Ouran Highschool Host Club] A Picture's Worth by devikun (Kyouya/Tamaki). In the background, crystal clear and facing unmistakably towards him with an odd, pensive look on his face, was Kyoya. And yeah, okay, now that I'm coming down of my high I can see there are a couple flaws/holes/glosses/whatever, BUT I DON'T CARE. [whee!]

And, because throwing old after the new is a complusive habit, I give you the rest of my small hoard favorites:

[Ouran Highschool Host Club] The Brilliant Find A Date For Kyouya Plan: Parts One and Two by copperbadge (Kyouya/Tamaki, Haruhi/Mori). "Our Lord has a devious plan," Kaoru added. Haruhi looked at Tamaki, who was sitting in a corner, glaring sulkily at the Hitachiin twins. "Oh?" - "He's going to find a girlfriend for Kyouya," Kaoru said. "We cleverly disguised the application form as an application for Assistant Manageress." In which Tamaki has a plan (a devious plan) and Haruhi asks the right questions.

[Ouran Highschool Host Club] Diametrically Opposed by peroxide_fic (Kyouya/Tamaki-ish). “Butbutbutbut… Kyouya can be wicked!” Tamaki looked up at his vice-president with big eyes, tugging pathetically on his sleeve. “Ne, Kyouya…be wicked!” A short, silly bit of fluff - Renge directs a photoshoot.

And, randomly (and totally nothing to do with tomomichi's most recent rec post) -

[Reborn!] The Thing About Pants by enkidu_fic (Tsuna, Kyoko, Gokudera). “I heard you screaming!!” Gokudera said in a rush as he stumbled into the room and grasped Tsuna’s shoulders tightly. “Are you hurt? Are you dying ?! Did you get it caught in your zipper?!” Another short bit of fluff (that has me grinning madly).
