As a 7 year Hyde Parker, I can say that it's about a 20-30 min commute to downtown, 40 min-hour to the north side, within walking distance to the Metra, and relatively cheap. Plus, the months you're looking for (Jan-March) line up pretty perfectly with the winter quarter sublets, some of which are super cheap.
