Quick post to remind myself - finally decided on my four Yuletide request fandoms, which are: Darkwing Duck (the world needs more floofy Drake/Launchpad slash. Needs it bad), Fairy Tales (I'm gonna ask for kick ass women and dramatic trope subversion and loads of queerness, yes), Runaways (Karolina/Xavin forevvvvvvvvar), and Night at the Museum Blue Beetle.

For, you know. Now. I'm not 100% sure on the last one.

oshit, Reborn!'s a nominated fandom? And the Dresden Files, and the Jurassic Park movies, and Hayate x Blade (well, yeah, I nominated that one), and Live Free or Die Hard, and Blue Beetle (hmm, might actually change to this one... yeah).

How was nothing with Ted Kord ala Blue Beetle v.2 and Booster Gold nominated? Justice League International and/or Booster Gold should be totes small enough.

Ooooh, DuckTales *was* nominated.

Sorry -- I still think of Barry Allen and Jay Garrett as the real Flashes, too ^_^. I'm just not a legacy person -- I can't call new legacy characters that replace killed off characters by their predecessor's names; it feels like I'm erasing Ted Kord/Steve Rogers/etc. out of existance and ensuring that they'll never come back when I do that, like saying "I don't believe in fairies" in Peter Pan. Stupid superstition to have, but it's strong enough that I couldn't even buy comics if they had Bucky!Cap on the cover.

I got into Harry Potter fandom by doing a google search for Trigun screencaps -- it's weird how you find things, sometimes.

No worries, I understand - I don't have quite the same attachment to Ted-as-Blue-Beetle, mostly because I read Jaime-as-Blue-Beetle first and then backtracked, but I've got so much love for the character (and he got *shafted* in the Brother Eye arc).

Lot's of agreement on the legacy thing, though, especially one like the Blue Beetles where both times the passing-of-the-mantle was unintentional. And I often wonder what the hell was going through Booster's head when he called Jaime that, considering how much effort he's put into getting Ted back.

Well, okay, it was the editorial staff speaking through Booster. I really like Jaime's relationship with the idea of Ted, as told to him by Guy and Booster (My icon is from a board he keeps in his room), but that doesn't excuse the fact that the transfer was executed very, very poorly. Arg.

And it will all be very awkward upon Ted's (inevitable, damn you, DC) return.

I think I would adore Jaime and be totally okay with it if only he was called any name in the world other than Blue Beetle -- some different name that was simply inspired by Ted, but that was Jaime's own name and not Ted's name. Like Eli Bradley being Patriot instead of calling himself Bucky II or something, or Dick Grayson being Nightwing (which I know is actually a character from Kryptonian folklore, but it also fits very nicely into the Batman/Robin naming scheme and Bat mythos with the whole wings element and the "I am vengeance, I am the night" schtick Bruce has).
