Fannish things

Guess who's driving the Marvel Crack Van (crack_van) for March! YES, it is I! I'm really pumped about this, reccing is my favorite fannish activity (after reading) and now I get to do it in an organized, public manner. And the three drivers before me (it's a new permanent fandom at the Crack Van, uh, garage. I'm so proud of it) didn't rec any of the stories I was planning on, the field is wide open. Hurray!

Speaking of recs, the Crack Van driver before me ended hir run with Five Times Faiza Hussain Meets a Superhero, which I missed on Yuletide. Y'all, Faiza Hussain is British, Muslim, a doctor, has healing powers, is a major fangirl, and is the current wielder of Excalibur in the Marvel-verse. She is amazing, this fic is perfect, and I totally need to pick up the current issue of 'Captain Britain and MI: 13' when I'm at the comic shop.

...I've been pretty hard on myself lately, regarding fannish matters - the little voice in my head is all 'why don't you contribute more' and 'it's not *that* hard to make friends' and so on - but, in the past two months, I've done four fanart pieces, gotten two of them published in a *steller* anthology, continued to quietly mod doujin_market, recced a metric ton of fic over at my delicious page, made nine LJ posts, and occasionally talked to people. And, y'know? That's not bad.

Leverage Season Finale

30 min in: Parker is *totally* hitting on Nate's ex. And, wow, they're really trying to hit *every* pairing.

35 min in: Team! Also, I am trying to decide if I like Nate/Maggie or Nate/Sterling better. Choices!

42 min: Sterling, Sterling, Sterling... this is not going to go well for you.

49 min: The summer is too far away - I really hope fandom maintains through the break.

52 min: Oh. Oh ohohohoh.

56 min: Didn't Nate... just *leave* the museum?

57: min: Oh. Oooooh.

59 min: Oh, come *on.* You couldn't have given us this? There's a new season coming! We know they stay together! There is no suspense here.

In conclusion: Yay, show! I mean, the finale was very pat, in a oh-aren't-we-clever sort of way, but I don't care. Shiny! Clever! Parker sniffing Maggie! Large amounts of fanservice! Also, the new Leverage!caveHQ - it's large. Very large.

I'm pretty well convinced that Sterling had/has a thing for Nate ('their' drinking spot on the roof? Really, Sterling?) - he's reading more like a rejected suitor then a rival. And Nate? I don't think Nate has a *clue* [pets him].

I like Maggie a lot - hopefully, they will not go the standard will-they-or-won't-they next season. It's been done, show! Just say no!
