If you don't mind a place in Elgin (a Chi-town suburb), I can recommend a very nice family I rented from a little while ago. It's a suburb but there are train and bus stops within walking distance. They charge quite a small rate ($350-450) for living in such a nice area, and usually have 2-3 rooms available for rent.
