(no subject)
Nov. 7th, 2011 03:55 pmThis week, I:
* Got asked out*. By a lady! One who's previously met and interacted with me. I agreed, but otherwise have no idea how I feel. Do I like her? Sure! In a romantic, sexual, and/or dating sort of way? I don't have a fucking clue - friend/acquaintance -> romantic interest is completely outside my frame of reference. I spend a lot of time making sure it doesn't happen (I only needed to fall for an uninterested friendonce twice three times, thanks)! Emotional constipation levels are high! What are these strange human ways.
* Got an interview. For a Dallas job and not one I really want but blah blah blah, interview!!! My resumes aren't disappearing into a void! Someone likes how I look on paper! [rolls around in it]
* Will turn 27 (Wednesday). I have a long tradition of freaking the hell out on my birthday but I dunno, I'm not feeling it. 27 seems like such a friendly number, you know?
I'm trying not to let it overwhelm me - I've been working towards change and now it's starting to happen, that's to be expected. It's just... I've been focused, right, and everything's narrowed down to this one thing, this newjobnewlife tunnel. And now there's light, or the chance of light, a hint of 'maybe this is a tunnel and not a hole'. And the light is bright and big and overblown, like this metaphor. Anyway.
It's been suggested I make a list of things I want to happen in the next 6 months. In no particular order:
*) I quit my current job.Leave them weeping in my dust.
*) I move to Chicago. Or Boston/DC/Denver/Seattle/Portland/New York/The Bay Area, but I'm hoping for Chicago.
*) I figure out how US Bank screwed me over, get it fixed, leave Chase Bank and join a credit union.
*) I get a new job, preferably at a museum, university, non-profit, government organization, or retailer of things I like. The new job will pay well, be managed well, and will not be run by assholes.
*) I get a new apartment; one that takes cats, is near public transit + shopping + interesting things, and is priced so I can afford it without a roommate.
*) I meet new, awesome people. We become friends!
*) I start drawing and writing regularly again. Maybe finish a couple fics, maybe start a comic.
That's plenty for six months, I think.
* Technically this was Saturday but whatever, the week starts when I say it does.
