It's HikaGo Day (and also Cinco de Mayo) HURRAY! In celebration, I'm going to point you towards what everyone else is doing and also some fic recs.

Oooh! And tonight, I can do some doujinshi squee reviews! I have a lot of doujinshi. In fact, go take a look, and let me know if there are any books you'd like reviewed/a look inside in particular!

bookshop's got the party started over here - links, picspams, overviews, you name it, she's got it. To pick a series overview (nepenthe, this one's for you) - Hello HikaGo!!!: It's seriously like a beautiful modernized fairy tale about a board game and the people who play it.

There's a HikaGo meme over at hikarunogo, which I will not be participating in because it's been way too long since I've read/watched the series but is awesome fun to read.

I will, I think, spend most of tonight rereading a huge chunk of the manga. And looking at my artbooks (I have two of them, they are mine, I *loves* them) and reading doujinshi, HURRAY.

Fic! Not a top 5 or 'best of' or anything, just the 5 I feel like rereading/reccing today:

* Heat by thehoyden: After all, if they're going to be sweaty, it should at least be for a good reason. And the third way to get things out of Touya is to screw him senseless, and Hikaru's sensing that's not at all a bad alternative.. Yes, I'm starting with porn.

* Issues by Mirabella: "Think about it. Most people discover sex and discover that the world is full of… well, people they could potentially have sex with. You discover sex and home in on Touya like some sort of Go-prodigy-seeking missile." I'll be honest, that's probably one of my favorite lines in a fic, ever.

* Metonymy (The Ragin' Meijin Remix) by mousapelli: Four Meijin matches that Touya Akira doesn't win, and one that's still up for debate.

* Waterloo by bookshop: “No, seriously, it’s phenomenal, you’ve gotten so good you even scare yourself.”

* A Resolution Of Territory by arboretum: The thing is, when Waya isn't busy being infuriatingly smug, he's a pretty reasonable guy, and he's right about Hikaru being way too busy for anything except go. Hikaru goes to Korea and plays pretty well in the tournament, but gets crushed just before the semi-finals by Wang Xin. He spends the rest of the time hovering obnoxiously over Touya's shoulder and picking apart all of Touya's games every night until Touya finally sighs, and says, "Is this revenge?"

Ahaha, these are all Akira/Hikaru, um. Let it be said that I love the other character/pairings, I *do,* but. Akira and Hikaru are the heart and soul of this fandom, for me.

You know, I've never actually sat down and examined what it is about this series that I love so much, but I *do* - there are veryvery few pairings that I'm as emotionally invested in as Hikaru and Akira. I mean, it's them and... no, just them. Wow, I had to think about it. Not something I knew about myself!

Which is, to say, yay Hikago!

I think I have read all of your recs before, but thank you anyway, because I'm going to re-read them now and bask in the love.
