Oh, Sailor Moon. I wish there was a way we could get a new proper translation and release here in the states, manga or anime. It's a much better story (<3) then most people realize (seriously, people are shocked when I start talking about the deathtoll) plus full of queerness and genderbending! <3 <3 <3 <3 Sailor Moon.

Yes! That's the quite where I sat up and went 'wait, what?' And the podcasters go on and on about how they were obsessed with each other and how all these intense emotions where involved and how they never actually met and still managed to be buried right across from each other. It was like being handed a shiny rivalslash wrapped package.

When I was in elementary school, we did a project where we had to pick a biography out of the library and write a book report on it. I chose, because I liked her name, "Mary, Queen of Scots." And to this day I get confused when I realize that not everyone learned all the amazing stuff that I learned about her from that project. Everyone should know how crazy her life was!

Have you read any Suzanna Clarke? She has a wonderful story starring Mary Stuart, called "Antickes and Frets." It's not the story you're looking for, but it's a fun and magical take on the rivalry and Mary's imprisonment.

Suzanna Clarke did 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell,' right? I haven't read any of her books but they're definitely on the to-read-someday list [makes a note].

Mary was totally amazing! She deserves a movie or two.

Yup, she did write that book. It's one of my all-time favorites. The story I mentioned comes from her collection The Ladies of Grace Adieu, which also has more stories tying into JS&MN. She's done a lot of really terrific world-building.
