I have couple of posts all written in my head, one about NaNoWriMo and facing challenges and one that's a bit of squee about my favorite FF7 doujinshi circle (Final World, yeah?). But. I am feeling a bit peaked and will instead go lay down for a couple days awhile (quamada, nepnthe, I am NaNoing! Really! Just, you know, from bed. With tea). Before I go, have some links.

Tuesday:

[Reborn!] Dying Will by vikki.This is what Gokudera hears when he's halfway up the stairs that lead to Tsuna's room: "I MUST HAVE SEX WITH GOKUDERA LIKE MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!" I've only read the first three volumes of Reborn! and haven't really settled on any pairings yet (except Reborn/Lambo, but that feels less like a pairing and more like an inevitable natural disaster), but this fic is a fun bit of fluff, regardless.

[Harry Potter] Everything by mistful but especially: If You've a Ready Mind, Drop Dead Gorgeous (wip), and Quality of Mercy (wip), those three being the most recent (well, aside from the Coda to DH, which is also awesome). (Multiple pairings, see list, but mostly Harry/Draco). I reserve the right to come back to any of these at a later date and expound at length.

And, hell, while we're talking awesome Harry Potter...

[Harry Potter] Everything by copperbadge but to start: Stealing Harry (Sirius/Remus). "You'd best come in now, it can't be helped," Moony said with a sigh. Harry wasn't sure he understood, but he followed Moony through the shelves, to the front of the store. Padfoot followed him, head nuzzling under Harry's arm. The best Harry Potter AU (more of a rewrite, really, starting from the night Harry's parents were killed), hands down. Plus, really long, with an even longer sequel, and excellent characterization, and plot, and book!love, and...

I keep meaning to print and bind these, so I can read them when I'm away from the computer. Like now (well, soonish anyway). Except I'm writing, not reading. Honest!



Wednesday:

So, did you know there's a strike on? I ask because I didn't - it honestly took me until today to figure out why The Daily Show's still on reruns (thank you, flist, for saving me from myself). As with most things, I've dived head first into the internet for more information, and have a couple links to share as a result.

And, before I start, let me say that I support the WGA in it's strike. Total, %100, I-don't-care-if-it-means-reruns-for-months support.

Sunday:

So there was this thing going on in one of the High School Muscial comms, which I got to via... debunkingwhite, I think. All commentary aside, my first thought was hey, this Chad kid's pretty cute and slash, you say?. I am easily led. Anyway, I spent most of my yesterday downloading the two High School Musical movies (Disney Channel originals, natch), watching them (and yes, that muscial number in movie 2 is very, very slashy. Edit: Youtube comes through - see the boys in action! ). They were fun, for made-for-tv, and Ryan (the other half of the pairing), is one of the few obviously gay characters I've seen in a Disney movie (clothing, mannerisms, a complete lack of interest in the opposite sex? the metrosexual card isn't gonna play here). And then I spent some quality time with idontdance's archive.

This leads, as most things do, to the point - fic recs! These are quite, quite good - I was suprised at the consistant (high) level of quality in such a small fandom.

[HSM] The Other Side of You: Parts One, Two, & Three by paperclipbitch (wip, Chad/Ryan). “You’re all insane,” he says with feeling, because Ryan’s eyelashes are literally sparkling and it’s very creepy. A great story that goes AU after the first movie (ie, the second movie doesn't happen, but it does inform the writing). It's just, the characterization is great, everybody's got a part, it's believable and sweet, and... yeah.

[HSM] The Extra Innings Series by kelbebop (Chad/Ryan)."Sorry!" Ryan said, grinning in a way that showed Chad he was not at all sorry. "You can't shame someone with no shame. Remember, I'm a thespian!" he said proudly. . Ryan is just so, so cute here, with his crush and his family and his new friends. As is Chad, in his confusion and teenage boyishness.

[HSM] Strategy: Parts One, Two, Three, Four, & Five by temira/queenitsy (Chad/Ryan). Point was: Chad Danforth was gay, and he somehow made his unique hairstyle look good, and he was somehow able to wear athletic wear and look kind of hot instead of patently ridiculous.Hee! 'Scheming runs in the Evans family, so when Ryan decide he wants Chad, he puts together a plan to get him.' says the summery and, well, yes.

[HSM] Ducky by temira/queenitsy (Chad/Ryan). Rather than answer, Ryan began to sing. His voice was pure and strong, he hit every note clearly, and he was downright mesmerizing. It would have been a lot less absurd if he hadn’t been singing Rubber Ducky. Freaking adorable (it's Disney, I'm allowed to indulge in the saccharine).

[HSM] Friends of Normal by amelia_kay (Chad/Ryan). Within weeks, Chad becomes a regular fixture in the Evans home. Sharpay stops making vague but distinctly threatening gestures at him with her bedazzled letter-opener. Ryan knows her well enough to know this is resignation. [summery later] /lazy.

[HSM] Small Town Boys by ciononeme (Chad/Ryan). Chad finds it easy to promise things to Ryan when he's naked. /still-lazy

[HSM] Waltz: One and Two by rageprufrock (wip, Chad/Ryan). “Wow,” Ryan says, a week later, feeling as demoralized as Chad’s hair. “You really don’t dance.” /still-lazy
