Baby II: The Puppying

The claims post for scifi_fest is up! I'm pretty excited about the prompts I picked. And about maybe getting some actual writing done.

Now that's out of the way...





The day after the baby horse was born (now known as Johnny), this momma dog (a yellow lab) and her puppies (eleven puppies) were brought into my mom's vet clinic. She'd been hit by a car and her owners wanted to put her down and leave the puppies, as you do, so Mom took the whole lot home. They're currently living in my dad's home office (he's very good with puppies).

The mom-dog's going to need several surgeries - she's only got two working legs at the moment - but Mom is confident she'll make a full recovery.



They've got multiple fathers; the breakdown, as far as we can tell, is five half-australian shepherds, three half-dobermans, two half-boxers and a quarter-husky/quarter-rottweiler. Makes for a colorful puppy pile.









I've got pictures of them y'know, awake, but that camera's back at my parent's. Guess I'll have to do more puppy spam later, oh well.





This is Sassafras, Roommate D's new kitten.

UGH WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. Stories like this always induce brief spells of near-homicidal HATE EVERYONE!!!! which only abates when I think about the people like your mom (and everyone else who rescues the pets treated like this by the horrible ones who need their pet-owner and humanity- licences revoked).

Talking about the mama dog's previous owners obviously.

A downside to a veterinarian!parent (who likes/needs to share) is getting a shit-ton of those stories second-hand. People are cruel and selfish.

Baaaaabies! My day needed a pile of puppies. And the mother is beautiful, especially with her "why me?" face.

There's something very wrong with people, but good on your parents for taking her in and I hope the mother and her babies never experience such lack of care/morals again.

OMG adorable! I knew that cats could do the multiple fathers thing, but it never occurred to me that dogs could too. What a mix of cuteness!

When were these pictures taken? loll cuz I have a 9 year old half dog. She is half lab half australian shepherd and she looks just like one of those baby puppies. ha we adopted her when she was 5 at pet smart and she doesnt have any puppy pictures :( so I can never know what she would look like when she was a puppy.
