1) I saw the trailer ages ago, and it neatly slotted into the "kids' movie" box in my brain, so my expectations were ... mediocre? Not that a kids' movie is inherently worse, but they tend towards simplistic often enough. Then everybody was saying it was great, so I was just confused and skeptic at that point.
2) His expression!!! Man. I was watching the episode with my Dad, while stopping every now and then to translate when they were talking to quickly for me to keep up, and I saw his face, went wide eyed and stopped the player. The Z-Dad: "You don't need to stop now!" Me: "Oh yeah I do. *rewinds*" Z-Dad: " .... what's up with that facial expression?"
Putting those dynamics into the show as you suggested would be great. And they'd work! Like magic! TV writers need like 2 or 3 fandom people in the room to straighten these things out for them. Che.
3) Oooh, I forgot Jenny, but I love her too!
So I haven't seen the latest episodes yet, but does River have *any* background issues? Like Rose being from a working class single mom household, and Martha being black and with a tumultuous (at best) family background, and Donna having a seriously not very functional relationship with her Mom and being kind of fucked up because of that?
I only have stealth!Who icons - this needs rectifying! (That's kind of a great word.. "RECITIFY~IN!"
